GanFindX Quick-Detachable Stainless Steel Kayak Cart

Welcome to our review of the GanFindX quick detachable stainless steel sit on top kayak cart, a scupper hole mounted affordable kayak cart option.

GanFindX produce multiple design options but in this review were we’re looking at the quick detachable stainless steel model, labeled as the GanFindX quick detachable stainless steel sit on top kayak cart.

This is a budget friendly scupper style kayak cart made of corrosion resistant materials which is good at this price range. Lightweight and with a decent load capacity all add to it’s appeal.

Below we will look at the features and any potential negatives we can see with this kayak cart.

Overview

The GanFindX quick detachable stainless steel kayak cart is designed with posts that insert into the scupper holes of sit on top kayaks.
There are a few pros and cans with this design.
It is very simple to use, you plug the cart into the scupper holes of your kayak, but it does involve tipping your kayak over to do so which means all unsecured gear will need to be removed first.
Only you can decide whether this will be a dealbreaker for you. I weigh this up against the advantage of no straps so it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

One personal reservation I have is not specific to this cart but a general caution I have with carts of this design. The whole weight of the load is carried on two scupper holes and although they are moulded through the kayak shell and are generally fairly strong, it still makes me nervous having all the stress on those two areas, particularly any sideways torque applied when travelling over uneven ground. Food for thought…

How to use the cart

Firstly measure the distance between your scupper holes and adjust the cart to match.
Attaching the cart to your kayak involves holding the kayak onto its side before you position the pegs in the scupper holes, so sadly you will need to remove all the gear that can fall off.
Once the cart is plugged in, turn your kayak carefully back over and you are ready to go.

Features

Frame

This GanFindX cart is built from industrial strength stainless steel and rubber, with a symmetrical design that is easy to assemble and disassemble.  The rubber plugs help protect your kayak from scratches and are designed with drainage channels. It packs down pretty small and weighs 3.9 lbs so can be easily stashed away in your kayak when not in use.

Capacity

The cart has a useful weight capacity of 250 lbs. It is not as high as some of the kayak carts we have recommended, but it is still pretty good. Once again, be mindful that the full weight of your load is being concentrated at the two scupper holes, Caution is recommended here.

Wheels

The high strength, solid tires are puncture free, and wide, making them suitable for a variety of surfaces.  They have a diameter of 8” so if you are planning on storing the cart inside your kayak when you are out fishing, make sure that they will fit.

Measurements

The width between the plus is adjustable between 2.6” and 17”, so as always, measure your kayak and check that the distance between the scupper holes falls between these distances. The frame has markings on it to help with accuracy.

The pegs measure 17.3” from the level of the ground and there is no vertical adjustment, but saying that, customer service sounds pretty amazing and has been known to organize longer poles for people in the past.

Alternatives

Ganfindx also produce the GanFindX Heavy Duty Kayak Cart which is also a good option for those on a budget.
Featuring a weight capacity of 220 lb, it has ‘no-flat’ wheels and it’s width is adjustable (up to 14.6”).
The aluminium frame is detachable and collapsable for easier transport.
If your kayak and gear are going to be within this weight limit, this model may be a good alternative for you.

I would also suggest comparing the Bonnlo kayak cart which is a simple fixed position kayak cart.

Conclusion

The GanFIndX Quick-Detachable Stainless Steel Sit on Top Kayak Cart is a light, simple kayak cart option for kayaks with scupper holes.

It does involve some dexterity attaching the cart to your kayak and removing all your loose gear off the kayak first could be annoying, but not having to bother with straps and your kayak slipping about as you move it is a huge advantage in my books.
